Olympic Trials

The Olympics are exciting things.  My niece Olivia is currently at the Olympic trials.  She has been swimming since she was tiny and has grown up competing and this week she's at the trials and has a chance to get on the Olympic swimming team for her best event, the 200M butterfly.

She has made it to the final eight swimmers.   In a few minutes, she'll compete in the final race that will determine if she'll make the team.  She's made it to the top eight swimmers in the country and for a harrowing two minutes (for those of us watching!) she'll be doing possibly the swim of her life.

Regardless of the outcome, we couldn't be more proud of her for this tremendous accomplishment.

The Big Boy Update:  My son and I have a secret about something that would potentially be bad for him, but that his sister wants very much.   I wasn't even going to suggest anything but he said he thought we should pursue our secret.   It was so kindhearted of him.  He knew how much it would make her happy.

The Tiny Girl Chronicles:  My daughter was working on a project outside with Nora and I heard her ask, "When your parents got married, did Greg have a different last name or did Erin have a different last name?"
